Partnerships
The Office of Research in Media Integrity hopes to include a wide variety of faculty across C&S and the University of Alabama. Possibilities outside C&S include faculty in sociology, political science, philosophy, psychology (moral development and social psychology), gender and race studies, American studies, and business/marketing. Relationships will also be sought with the Digital Media Center, the Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations, and the Office of Politics, Communication, and Media.
OMRI also would seek partnerships with external organizations with a focus on ethics, such as the Society for Professional Journalists, Public Relations Society of America, the Institute for Advertising Ethics, and others.

Many universities have similar organizations, such as Duquesne’s Institute for Ethics and Integrity in Journalism, Wisconsin’s Center for Journalism Ethics, Arkansas’ Center for Ethics in Journalism, Loyola’s Center for Digital Ethics & Policy, Santa Clara University’s Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, and others. Part of ORMI’s goal is to find its own place in the universe of ethics-focused institutes, and to work with other organizations as appropriate.
